Science Museum Exhibit


The special exhibit "Shape and Symmetry: The Beauty of Science at the Nanoscale" held at the Science Museum of Minnesota during Nanodays 2010 (March 29-April 3), introducing the public to nanostructured materials. The artwork was provided by Professor A. Stein's research group and was based in part on research from NSF-funded projects

SEM Art

Fan Li (right) and Andreas Stein in front of the "Bamboo and Plum" image (based on SEM images of nanoparticles) selected for display at the Science as Art Competition of the Spring 2009 MRS meeting in San Francisco. The image was among 50 finalists selected from a pool of over 300 images.

 

Minnehaha Demo 2008

Scenes from a chemistry demonstration show for elementary school students in 2008 and examples of student's thank you letters. Note that the students remembered the safety goggles in their drawings. At least one grade-2 student mentioned to his teacher after the show that he wanted to become a chemist when he grows up.
